Cheese

Author’s Note: This is a essay about Owen and my project about Cheese. We chose cheese, because we both love it and it is so popular in Wisconsin. I am working on introduction, vocabulary, and sentence structure. Feedback would be great.

You walk into the kitchen and plug your nose. You smell this horrible smell that you can not even describe. There it is a big chunk of Limburger cheese. Though some cheese can smell really bad, cheese is one of the greatest inventions ever.

First of all, no one knows exactly when cheese was invented or who invented it, but people say it was invented by an Arab trader who let his milk sit and curdle. The first cheese was made in the middle-east, somewhere between 8000B.C. and 3000B.C. Thus cheese was born. The first recorded cheese was in Egypt around 2000B.C.

Though the first cheese may be old, but Limburger is not that old. It is a very soft cheese that is made in Belgium. Limburger cheese is very smooth and sticky. It’s made from cow milk, heated up to 161 degrees Fahrenheit and cooled down at 87 degrees. You have to let it sit in a humid area for two weeks to let it ripen. We all know that Limburger cheese smells horrible and the reason of that is on the surface are proteins breaking down, which let’s off the horrible smell. Though it looks pretty good and it also looks like bread sort of, stay away.

As you can see cheese is very old and not much of the history can be written about it. Maybe some day we will find out. Just remember stay away from that Limburger cheese.
