To Kill A Mocking Bird 3/17/11

Author’s Note: This is a response to my book I am reading To Kill A Mocking Bird. I am trying to work on adding Opinion, Sentence Structure, and organizing paragraphs. If you could give me some feedback that would be great.

If you were a tom girl and your Aunt wants you to be more lady-like. Would you try or would you be like “NO way”.  It looks like Scout is trying but it is not going to work.

First, Scout or Jean Louise is trying to be more lady-like, because her Aunt wants her to be more of a lady. Something to start with is that she could tell everyone that she doesn’t want to be called Scout and be called Jean Louise. It seems she doesn’t really want to become more lady-like, but she is doing this for her Aunt.

I am pretty sure that this is just for her Aunt, but what really surprised me when Jem suggested to take sewing lessons, Scout say no, but then she goes with her Aunt to go see the other ladies. This seems like a time where at first you say "oh I hate that" and then you try it again then you are like "this isn't that bad". It seemed like she had no intention of being more lady-like, but then she didn't really mind it. It kind reminds me of this video game I got at first I thought it was the stupidest game ever. Later that week I played it again and it became one of my favorite games.

She seems like she is really trying. But she has always been more of a Tom-Boy and that is the way she knows how to live. She going to get really close, but in the end she is going to stay the ways she is.

  1. I agree that it is just for her aunt and that she is going to live how she wants to live not how others want her to. Good post.

  2. I really liked how you related this to your own experiences, it really showed your voice and opinion. Good job! I also thought you brought up some good points about how Scout wasn't doing this herself, I wish you would've continued that further.

  3. I liked your post. It brought out a good point, because sometimes people don't always watch for opinions when reading, and this is a good one. You had a few errors here and there, mostly in punctuation. Good Job!

  4. Good job. I liked how you related this to your own life, like Sara said. Your author's note was helpful to see your goals. I think you did accomplish organization and opinion. There were a couple of errors, but they weren't big. Nice job!

  5. This is a nice response, and you can really see quite a bit of improvement over the last few weeks. You make a god point, starting with a clear introduction, and go on to both cover material you read in a meaningful manner, and discuss a bit, how it is relevant to your life. Good work.
